Raising £660 for York Against Cancer & Mount Vernon Cancer Unit
This year’s Bonfire Night at South Newlands Farm was one of our best yet. With blazing flames, a sparkling firework display and an incredible turnout from friends, neighbours and returning guests, the evening was filled with warmth, community spirit and generosity.
⭐ Surpassing Our Fundraising Target
We set out with a goal to raise £500, but thanks to the kindness and support of everyone who attended, we reached an amazing £660. This total will be split between two charities that mean a lot to our community:
- York Against Cancer — supporting the York District Cancer Unit, who have cared for many of our local friends and family
- Mount Vernon Cancer Unit in London — who have been treating Glyn, one of our regular guests from Luton, for facial bone cancer with exceptional care
We’re incredibly grateful to be able to support both charities.
🔥 Community Spirit at Its Best
Our bonfire and fireworks night wouldn’t be what it is without the wonderful people who help make it happen.
A huge thank you to:
- Fireman Mark, who once again ensured that everyone stayed safe throughout the evening
- Sue from Wooler, who kindly knitted and sold handmade hats to raise extra funds
- The “Luton Lot” — Phill, Glyn, David and Wendy — whose help, laughter and support bring so much joy to this event every year
- And of course, all our guests, friends and neighbours, who turned out in fantastic numbers to make it a night to remember
🎇 A Night Full of Light and Laughter
The sky lit up beautifully as fireworks burst above the fields, and the bonfire roared warmly against the November chill. Families gathered, children gazed in awe, and the whole night felt like a celebration of togetherness.
It’s events like these that remind us what a special community we’re part of.
❤️ Thank You From All of Us
We’re truly touched by the support shown, not just for the event, but for the charities and people behind the reason we do it. Your kindness makes a real difference.
We already can’t wait for next year’s gathering — but until then, thank you for making this one so memorable.
